Information On Alternative Fuels and Vehicles

The U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center is a one-stop shop for alternative fuel and vehicle information. The site contains information on alternative fuels, alternative fueled vehicles (including heavy-duty vehicles), refueling sites and more.

DOE classifies the following as "alternative fuels":

  • biodiesel
  • electricity
  • ethanol
  • hydrogen
  • methanol
  • natural gas
  • propane
  • p-series
  • solar energy

DOE's Clean Cities Program supports public-private partnerships that deploy alternative fuel vehicles and build supporting alternative fuel infrastructure. The program includes information on the types of alternative fueled vehicles available for sale and current tax credits and incentives supporting the use of alternative fuels and vehicles.
